New Delhi: NASA has invited the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to participate in its ambitious Moon Base programme, marking a major step forward in India-US space cooperation. The invitation was extended during the ninth India-US Civil Space Joint Working Group meeting held in Bengaluru.
The Moon Base initiative aims to establish a sustained human presence near the lunar South Pole through a series of robotic and crewed missions. ISRO’s participation could include collaboration in lunar science, robotics, communications and human spaceflight technologies.
The proposal builds on the strong partnership between NASA and ISRO, including joint projects like the NISAR mission and India’s commitment to the Artemis Accords. If finalized, the collaboration would position India as a key international partner in shaping the future of lunar exploration.
As global space agencies prepare for humanity’s return to the Moon, the NASA-ISRO partnership signals a shared vision for peaceful, innovative and long-term exploration beyond Earth.
